Witness the spectacle of tens of thousands of pink footed geese coming in to roost at Martin Mere. Every Wednesday and Saturday in October, our Discovery Hide will be open until 7pm* to give you the opportunity to see upto 40,000 pink footed geese whiffle over the mere as the autumn sun is setting.
These evenings are free to attend and you don't need to pay for admission if you arrive after 5pm.

Terms & Conditions
- Please note on these evenings, you will only be allowed access to our Discovery Hide - the rest of the grounds and reserve will be closed at the usual closing time.
- On Wednesday 30th October, the late night opening will be between 4-6pm.
- If you arrive after 5pm (or 4pm on Wednesday 30th October), you won't need to buy admission to the centre,

I have always been fascinated by the ability of homing pigeons to find their way home from far flung places but the ability of Geese to know when it is Wednesday or Saturday really is mind blowing.
